Drawn to dance, music, and painting from an early age, Tong Biyan graduated university with majors in preschool education, management, and Chinese language and literature. She now works at the Working People’s Cultural Palace in Cixi, Zhejiang Province and is an experienced choreographer and festival planner as well as a photographer.

Biyan began photographing in 2013 and has since taken part in a number of photography festivals. In 2015 and 2016 she showed work in the first documentary photography exhibition in Ningbo and the sixth A La Ningbo Photography Festival. In 2017 she participated in the Lishui Photography Festival. Her series Past Time was named a finalist for the Three Shadows Photography Award in 2018 and subsequently exhibited in Beijing, Xiamen, and Datong.
